Who will teach my child?
Every lesson is taught by Evangelos Mitsokapas, a mathematician with a PhD and a qualified teacher (QTS). Mathema Education is not an agency: your child works with the same person throughout, following one plan.
What ages and levels do you cover?
From 7+ entrance level to undergraduate. That includes 7+, 8+, 11+ and 13+ entrance exams, GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics, IB and AP, and first- and second-year university mathematics.
Are lessons online or in person?
Online, one-to-one, over a video call with a shared interactive whiteboard. Worked solutions are shared so your child can keep and revisit them. Students have joined from across London, continental Europe and East Asia.
How much does tuition cost?
Fees depend on the level and how much preparation is involved. We discuss rates during the free consultation, once it’s clear what your child needs, with no obligation either way.
How often are lessons, and how long are they?
Weekly is the norm, usually 60 minutes. 45 minutes suits younger students; 90 minutes works well in intensive exam terms. Frequency can step up in the run-up to exams and ease off once a student is flying.
Is there a minimum commitment?
No fixed term. A week’s notice is all that’s needed to pause or stop, and lessons can be rescheduled with reasonable notice.
What technology do we need?
A laptop or tablet with a camera, a reliable internet connection, and a quiet place to work. Everything else runs in the browser.
Do you set work between lessons?
Yes: targeted practice after each lesson, sized to fit around school. It’s where a lot of the progress actually happens, and it’s reviewed at the start of the next session.
Do you help with entrance-exam interviews?
Yes. Interview practice is part of 7+ and 11+ preparation where it’s needed, and mock interviews are available for Oxbridge Mathematics applicants.
Do you support students with SEN or specific learning differences?
Yes. Evangelos has certified experience supporting students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD and mild autism, and holds special-school teaching eligibility through his QTS.
Which exam boards do you teach?
Edexcel, AQA and Cambridge Pre-U for GCSE and A-Level; IB Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation (SL/HL); and AP Precalculus, Calculus AB/BC, Statistics and Physics.
